![]() ![]() If you can not hear it, while playing a game, then try using a different fan control program. Do you hear noise? Feeling air might be hard a laptop, best thing is to just hear it. Looking up your laptop, people say it’s a pretty loud machine. 80c is fine for a GPU, and can really go up to 90c - 100c being fine but you wouldn’t want that as its constant temps. GPU is about the same, but can really handle higher. CPU I would say is safe up to 80c, (and could technically go higher but on a laptop I would expect to throttle at that point and definitely further), but 70’s would be safest. Open a game, and use MSI afterburner to measure your GPU temps. As 55c on a CPU is not bad, for being idle, sure, it’s a little above average, but on a laptop like that I don’t expect it to be too much better. Now to run fan control, type: sudo /usr/sbin/fancontrol &Ī nice way to visually inspect temps is with gkrellm.Do you hear noise? Maybe try another program?Īnd please try measuring your temps and tell me. The easiest way is toĪnd work your way through the instructions there.įinally, run sensors -s to make your fan configuration take effect. Next, you need to create your fancontrol file. = the module names provided from sensors-detect. ![]() Now, if you don't want to reboot, you'll have to manually activate the Add the recommended lines to /etc/modules. ![]() The following is quoted from sudo apt-get install lm-sensors Secondly, there are a set of utilities to set the fan speeds for various sensed temperatures. You can issue sudo tlp start to start the process, but I would reboot. There are configuration files for Tlp located in /etc/default/tlp which you can customize to fit your needs. Sudo apt install -install-suggests lm-sensors psensor From the terminal: sudo apt install tlp thermald If you have not installed any of the power management services in Ubuntu, you may find these to be helpful:įirst, install Tlp, Thermald, and Lmsensors to create power sensing and management. ![]()
